Welcome to de-learning, my name is Denise McCall,
I am formally the computer, multimedia, digital photography and culinary arts teacher for the Holden School, an alternative high school in the Boston area. I was also the on-site technical resource-person, and the administrator of their Microsoft 2003 Exchange Server. I taught at the school for eight academic years, from 2001-2009...I loved my job. Due to the economy, the Holden School was closed on June 26, 2009. It was a sad day for all staff, and students.
My goal for building this site is to provide my students a place to retrieve all of their classroom assignments, to teach educators the best practices of Integrating Technology into their curriculum, and to provide low cost tutoring for everyone.
The completion of my Independent Learning Project and the Master’s of Education Program at Cambridge College has been a very rigorous process. Without the support of many people, I would not have been successful in the completion of this project. My project discusses the best practices in educational technology to improve the behavior, instruction, and learning of at-risk youth, for whom technology offers unique opportunities. Research is compiled from numerous scholarly print and online sources. A guide for teachers provides detailed strategies, software tutorials and specific resources for integrating technology into the curriculum.
